El \u00e1rea forma parte del corredor biol\u00f3gico San Juan \u2013 La Selva. La regi\u00f3n inmediata tiene una amplia variedad de h\u00e1bitats como lagunas, arroyos, humedales, pastos para ganado, matorrales, bosques secundarios y primarios, lo que permite una biodiversidad muy alta. Aqu\u00ed se han registrado alrededor de 420 especies de aves, m\u00e1s de 1000 especies de mariposas, 25 especies de lagartos, 44 ranas y sapos, 56 especies de serpientes y 114 mam\u00edferos (incluidos muchos murci\u00e9lagos).<br \/>\nEn la finca se encontrar\u00e1 con mayor frecuencia monos aulladores, ranas venenosas, iguanas verdes, caimanes, hormigas gigantes tropicales, tapires, agut\u00edes, colibr\u00edes, tucanes y loros.<\/p>\n<p>Tanto la plantaci\u00f3n de vainilla como el complejo hotelero de la propiedad se mantienen como un parque. Debajo de una peque\u00f1a cascada, una piscina natural entre rocas invita a nadar durante todo el a\u00f1o. A la propiedad se puede llegar en veh\u00edculo durante todo el a\u00f1o (incluso en temporada de lluvias), est\u00e1 conectada a la red el\u00e9ctrica p\u00fablica y cuenta con recepci\u00f3n de tel\u00e9fono e internet. Vanilla Jungle Lodge est\u00e1 ubicado en la provincia de Heredia\/cant\u00f3n de Sarapiqu\u00ed (cerca de La Virgen). En unos 5 minutos a pie se puede llegar al peque\u00f1o pueblo de \u201cCalifornia Tico\u201d. Desde aqu\u00ed salen autobuses 3 veces al d\u00eda en direcci\u00f3n a San Jos\u00e9. Se tarda unas 2,5 horas en llegar al aeropuerto o a la capital en coche.<\/p>\n<p>Los barcos salen del pueblo vecino de Puerto Viejo y lo llevan por el r\u00edo Sarapiqu\u00ed y el r\u00edo San Juan hasta las playas caribe\u00f1as de Tortuguero. Varios operadores tambi\u00e9n ofrecen aqu\u00ed excursiones de rafting o en bicicleta de monta\u00f1a. En las inmediaciones se pueden visitar plantaciones de pl\u00e1tano, pi\u00f1a y pimiento y experimentar c\u00f3mo se comercializa el ganado en Costa Rica en las subastas semanales.
