Der Druck auf die Bodenpreise in dieser Region verursacht einen Preisauftrieb und eine steigende Wertsch\u00e4tzung.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Teak &#8211; Baum<\/div>\n<div>Der Name Tectona leitet sich \u00fcber das portugiesische teca = Teakholz aus Malayalam tekka = Teakholz ab. Zugleichlehnt sich der Name an griechisch \u03c4?\u03ba\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd t\u00e9kton = Zimmermann an. Das Epitheton grandis ist das lateinische Wort f\u00fcr gro\u00df. Die deutsche Bezeichnung Teak leitet sich \u00fcber das Englische ebenfalls von Malayalam ab.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Habitus [Bearbeiten]<\/div>\n<div>Der Teakbaum ist ein hochw\u00fcchsiger Baum, der meist Wuchsh\u00f6hen von 25 bis 35 Meter, selten \u00fcber 40 Meter erreicht. Die St\u00e4mme sind meist zylindrisch, k\u00f6nnen aber auch einen unregelm\u00e4\u00dfigen Querschnitt haben und im Alter Brettwurzeln ausbilden. Besonders geradsch\u00e4ftige B\u00e4ume kommen in Thailand und Myanmar vor. Die Krone setzt meist sehr hoch an, astfreie nutzbare Stamml\u00e4ngen von 20 bis 25 Meter k\u00f6nnen bei einem Brusth\u00f6hendurchmesser von 100 Zentimetern erreicht werden. Die Krone ist stark schattenspendend. Das Wurzelsystem ist ein oberfl\u00e4chliches, horizontal ausgebreitetes Herzwurzelsystem.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Borke und Holz [Bearbeiten]<\/div>\n<div>Die Borke ist grau bis graubraun und in der Regel ein bis 1,5 Zentimeter dick. Sie ist l\u00e4ngsrissig, ziemlich weichund bl\u00e4ttert ab.Das Holz besitzt einen hellen Splint von zwei bis drei Zentimetern St\u00e4rke. Das Kernholz hat eine gelbe bis dunkelbraune Farbe. Durch dunkel-olivbraune bis schwarze Streifen ist das Holz gestreift (Schwarzstreifen-Teak). Diese Farbe stammt von unterschiedlichen Konzentrationen sekund\u00e4rer Pflanzenstoffe, u. a. Dehydrotectol und Tectochinon. Diese Streifen treten besonders bei Teak birmanischer Herkunft auf. Auch der Siliziumgehalt des Holzes h\u00e4ngt vom Herkunftsgebiet ab.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Der Stammquerschnitt weist deutliche Zuwachszonen aus, die vom saisonalen Tropenklima verursacht sind. Es k\u00f6nnen innerhalb eines Jahres mehrere Wachstumssch\u00fcbe vorkommen.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Das Holz ist in der Regel geradfaserig. Wechseldrehwuchs tritt nur selten auf.Der Zelluloseanteil betr\u00e4gt rund 43 Prozent, der Ligninanteil 30 bis 39 Prozent. Im Parenchym des \u00e4u\u00dferen\u00a0 Kernholzes speichert Teak Kautschuk, bis zu f\u00fcnf Gewichtsprozent. Dieser au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlich hohe Kautschukgehalt bedingt die klebrig-\u00f6lige Beschaffenheit und die stumpfe Oberfl\u00e4che des Holzes, weiters hohe Abriebfestigkeit, die S\u00e4ureresistenz und die starke Wasserabweisung des Holzes.Das Kernholz ist sehr dauerhaft. Die Ursachen sind die sekund\u00e4ren Pflanzenstoffe Tectol, das fungizid wirkt, und Tectochinon, das die Resistenz gegen Insekten bewirkt.
