From the ground floor of your house and garden you have the most spectacular view deep into the Panama area. In a direct line, the Sixaola River, which forms the border with Panama, is no more than 5 km from your current position. From your garden you can see Panama. On a good day, your view is more than 50 km of untouched rainforest in front of you. Visiting the home's location on Google Maps is the best way to see how far you are from your actual location. This off-the-grid home was built during 2 years of complicated construction. Building so far from the grid doesn't make things particularly easier. The property is just over 1 hectare in size. It's more than just a lot. Part of it is virgin forest and borders the other Bio Caribe properties. This property has a small flat area of around 1000 m2 at the highest elevation. Within the Bio Caribe project, this lot is located in the area: Off the Grid Properties. However, the house is equipped with 2700 watt solar panels and can be used like any normal house. The water is harvested from the roof. With over 40,000 liters of water storage under the barn, you won't run out of water. The house:
The house is completely off the grid with 12 solar panels. You produce your own electricity, with both cold and hot water installed from a sun-heated solar hot water boiler. The house is equipped with natural air cooling through underground pipes in which the air is cooled to the natural ground temperature. Two shipping containers are placed on top of each other at an angle and different spaces are added to the containers. These extra spaces make you lose the feeling of being completely in a square box. On three levels, the wooden terrace roughly doubles the living space of 90 m². Your bathroom is probably one of your favorite places in the house. The vintage Victorian-style bathtub looks out over the rainforest. From the terrace on your roof you have a wide view in all directions. A yoga deck above the house is waiting for you to use.
