Yes, there are already some people who packed their bags one day and said “goodbye” to their old homeland to start a completely new life here in Costa Rica. You were looking for happiness and contentment... did you find both? What kind of people are they and how did they do it? Have your dreams and goals come true? Did you imagine life here to be different or at least simpler?
But one thing is certain! For all the emigrants it was probably a piece of freedom that they took away and for everyone it was also a leap into a new adventure. It must have felt incredibly good to leave all the security of Europe or the USA behind and to resettle in such a completely different environment. Pure freedom and excitement...! Ok, there was probably also a bit of fear and uneasy feeling, but if you read the reports, you will see that these people have found inner peace here and that the beauties of Costa Rica have now transcended the sometimes still somewhat unpleasant sides emerging country.
So at this point I can tell you with a clear conscience that I, for my part, have found happiness, mastered the challenge and am still experiencing new and exciting adventures that I don't really want to miss. Pura Vida!

Otto Klöti
– A life for coffee
Otto Klöti moved to Costa Rica as early as 1948, actually just to help his aunt. But his journey became his destiny and his love for the country, people and coffee made him spend his life here. Coffee determined his career and Otto learned the business quickly and perfectly and so he became one of the “aristocrats” when it came to coffee! Well, Otto came to Costa Rica, sowed and harvested! A success story that is worth seeing:

Johann Dähler – The Pineapple King
Johann Dähler finally found his way to Costa Rica via Bangui in the Central African Republic, where he worked as an instructor, and the Ivory Coast, where he became the pineapple king for the first time.
Here Johann is in business with large corporations in Switzerland, has learned a lot from his previous mistakes and so there are hardly any problems with his fruit plantations anymore! Johann champions organic farming and loves his pineapples more than anything! A stand-up man like it is written in the book!
